  Calera Wines - October 6, 2009
Limestone-rich soils are the key to great pinot noirs and chardonnays according to Josh Jensen's mentors in Burgundy. In early 1974, Josh found his limestone soil in San Benito County, just 90 miles south of San Francisco and Calera was born. Calera means "limekiln" in Spanish and serves as the winery's symbol, appearing on every bottle of wine.

The winery is now a state-of-the-art facility with barrel cellars built into the hillside with a German grape press and an Italian bottling line. Visit the on-site subterranean wine library for a bit of history and the future.

Taste the following wines and creative canapés:
  • 2008 Calera Central Coast Chardonnay
  • 2007 Calera Central Coast Pinot
  • 2006 Mt. Harlan Cuvée Pinot
  • 2006 Calera Ryan Pinot

Priced at $35.00 per wine flight and $15.00 per canapé plate.

Josh will be on hand Tuesday, October 6, 2009 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in Seasons Bar and Lounge. For more information, please visit our web site or contact Seasons Bar and Lounge at 1 (415) 633-3838.
